Who is Jesus Christ?
Who is Jesus Christ? This is the most important question one will be faced with throughout the entirety of life. No single figure has had a greater impact on human history than Jesus of Nazareth. Who is such a man to offer hope, healing and redemption to the souls of mankind more than two millennia after He walked the earth?
Who is Jesus Christ? The Messiah. The God-Man. Part of the triune godhead; God the Son. The Word of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
John 1:1-4 (NASB)
Jesus Christ is the only one who is able to wipe away the filth and shameful things that we bring into our lives. How could He possibly do this for us, today, even as we read this? When Jesus Christ died a criminal’s death, as an innocent man, on the cross of Calvary (also called Golgotha), He took upon Himself every sin that mankind had ever done, was doing and would continue to do--through His victory over the grave.
“But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.”
Isaiah 53:5 (NASB)
This is life altering! Once an individual truly grasps the fact that all failures, screw ups and overall shame has been paid for by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, eternal security is taken hold of. It is through sincere confession and repentance in prayer to God Almighty, that one is able to receive the gift of forgiveness. There is hope, healing and a new beginning awaiting each life through Jesus Christ.
“And just as it is appointed for people to die once--and after this, judgment--so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.”
Hebrews 9:27-28 (HCSB)
Every individual with a breath in their lungs needs a savior to redeem the ways we live our lives. We all have thought, said and done things we regret. We all have been hurt and hurt others from selfish actions and motives. There are sins of both commission (you did something you should not have done) as well as sins of omission (failing to do something you should have done). As a human race, we are all guilty of both types of sin. For this reason, the beautiful ransom and rescue of Jesus Christ--for each soul who will accept Him--is profound and the only assurance one can take to the grave and beyond. In Christ alone, there is victory over death and eternal suffering. There is eternal healing in Jesus Christ’s name!
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (NLT)
Some may be asking, how do I get to know this Jesus? How do I accept His leadership over my own life? Listed below is one of the most beautiful scriptures in the entire Bible. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, your eternal salvation is secure. Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will be saved.
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10 (NASB)
If you believe these scriptures and have uttered them to the Lord in all sincerity, I encourage you to contact a local Pastor or chaplain. Baptism is the outward declaration of what has already been transformed within the soul. Thus, if you have now trusted your life to Jesus Christ, speak to a local Pastor about water baptism. For your soul has now been washed clean by the work of Jesus Christ. Once you accept Jesus, you are forever seen as clean, through Jesus’ payment on the cross, in the eyes of God Almighty.
I encourage each one reading to pray for God to search your heart. And if you need to meet Him for the first time, embrace Him. Invite Him into your heart and soul. With the utmost sincerity I share this as a testimony of my own life and story: Christ is the answer!
